Bookstore Pilgrimate Photos

Yesterday's bookstore pilgrimage turned up some mid-list authors (save perhaps for Jeffrey Ford--is he still considered a mid-list author?) I thought I'd never see in local bookstores:

Jim C. Hine's Goblin War (near the center of the photo, beside Robin Hobb)

Alex and the Ironic Gentleman by Adrienne Kress (who I mainly know from the blog of J.M. McDermott)

Jeffrey Ford's The Shadow Year

Other interesting observations includes spotting Ellen Datlow's (along with Terri Windling in two cases out of three) books in three different sections of the same bookstore: horror (Inferno), science-fiction/fantasy (Black Thorn, White Rose), and young adult (The Coyote Road). A noteworthy title found in National Bookstore but not in Powerbooks is Jeff Vandermeer's Shriek. Also spotted more copies of J.M. McDermott's Last Dragon. And I ended up purchasing Sarah Monette's The Bone Key.

  1. Adrienne's book is whimsically hilarious.

I'm going shopping for Shadow Year very soon, and plan on investigating Sarah Monette's latest whilst at the store.
