Speculative Fiction Collections 2012

Last week, for the day job, we released the collection How to Traverse Terra Incognita by Dean Francis Alfar:

If there's any book by a Filipino author that I urge you to buy, it's this (you can also read the blurbs for the book from authors and editors I admire such as Lynne M. Thomas, Ann VanderMeer, John Grant, Rachel Swirsky, etc.).

But there's also A LOT of collections that have been released or will be released this year. In many ways, 2012 is the year of speculative fiction collections. Here's some books which I want to highlight (and you might have missed):
Cracklescape by Margo Lanagan
Crackpot Palace: Stories by Jeffrey Ford
At the Edge of Waking by Holly Phillips
The Secret of Evil by Roberto Bolano
Errantry by Elizabeth Hand
Through Splintered Walls by Kaaron Warren
The Dragon Griaule by Lucius Shepard
The Woman Who Married a Cloud by Jonathan Carroll
Moscow but Dreaming by Ekaterina Sedia
Birds and Birthdays by Christopher Barzak
Confessions of a Five-Chambered Heart by CaitlĂn R. Kiernan
Fountain of Age by Nancy Kress
The Best of Kage Baker by Kage Baker
Permeable Borders by Nina Kiriki Hoffman

Technicolor and other Revelations by John Langan

Space Is Just a Starry Night by Tanith Lee

Edit: From the comments, more collections!

You Will Meet a Stranger Far from Home by Alex Jeffers
Windeye: Stories by Brian Evenson
Earth and Air by Peter Dickinson
Jagannath by Karin Tidbeck

And as impressive as this list is, I'm also hoping the following authors get their own short story collections in the near future (if they haven't yet):
  • Rachel Swirsky
  • Ken Liu
  • Genevieve Valentine
  • Lavie Tidhar
  • Theodora Goss (a new one)
  • Catherynne M.  Valente (a new one)
  • Aliette de Bodard
  • Amal El-Mohtar
  • Mary Robinette Kowal (a new one)
  • Naomi Novik

  1. Alex Jeffer's collection also recently released. I wish you would have added that.
