The Philippine chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators invites you to participate in their monthly book talk and critique on August 13 (Monday) from 6 to 9 pm. The meeting will take place at McCafe Greenbelt 1, Paseo de Roxas, Makati, right in front of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM).Books to be discussed will include : Oh! The Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss, Return of the Jedi by James Kahn, The Yellow House, Vincent Van Gogh & Paul Gaugin, So Much by Trish Cooke (with illustrations by Helen Oxenbury), and other books that the attendees will bring.
Manuscripts to be critiqued will include one sent in for critiquing last June 11, and any manuscripts (or art portfolios) that the attendees will bring. Of course, all these have to do with stories and art meant for books for children and young adults. The monthly SCBWI Booktalk & Critique is open to both members and non-members, and to published as well as unpublished children's writers and illustrators. All you have to do is bring a book for children or young adults that you want to talk about, or bring a work in progress (your art portfolio or manuscript) for group critiquing. We collect an attendance fee of P100 for members, P120 for non-members. This goes towards buying you one hot or cold drink for you, during the meeting.
